In April 2017, the Research Center for New Structural Financial Economics was launched by the Tsinghua University National Institute of Financial Research.

On April 13, 2017, a Memorandum of Understanding on In-depth Cooperation was signed with the China Association for the Promotion of Development Financing (CAPDF).

In July 2017, the Peking University CNSE Xinjiang Hetian Workstation was established.

In September 2017, the Institute of New Structural Economics (INSE) at Peking University, Tibet was unveiled.

On July 8 and 9, 2017, a special session was convened at the 11th China Development Economics Annual Conference and the first NSE Parallel Session of China Development Economics Annual Conference was held.

From October 13 to 15, 2017, a special session was convened at the 17th China Economics Annual Conference and the first NSE Parallel Session of China Economics Annual Conference was held.

In December 2017, the Center for New Structural Economics (CNSE) at Peking University was upgraded to the Institute of New Structural Economics (INSE) at Peking University.
