My Thoughts on the 4th NSE Summer School

 

I would like to express my gratitude to the Center for New Structural Economics for organizing the Summer Schools and their 4th edition in particular.

 

They are the best way to understand the Chinese approach to development and industrial upgrading. The participants could share the first-hand experience of the excellent keynote speakers. 

 

For me, it was important to enrich my knowledge concerning the rationale behind the promotion of Chinese foreign direct investment and infrastructural projects, since our current research focuses on the Belt and Road initiative. So, the lectures of professors Xiaofang Shen and Yan Wang, based on their long working experience at the global development institutions, shed the light on the effective approaches to the development aid and open new horizons for research and practice.And I hope we include the obtained ideas into our new relevant articles. 

 

Furthermore, in autumn I plan to organize a seminar on NewStructural Economics and the Growth Identification and Facilitation Framework for the Ph.D. and Master students in my department. The possibility to meet new colleagues from all around the globe is exciting as well, since it is the easiest way to understand the different realities and hot economic issues of other countries. 

 

The trip to Hejian, Hebei Province,is unforgettable because for any theoretician, it is interesting to see the real examples of industrial development.
