Ⅰ. Overview

The Supporting Economic Transformation – Survey of Chinese manufacturing firms programme is jointly conducted by The Center for New Structural Economics (CNSE) and Overseas Development Institute (ODI) to pilot the large-n firm-level survey and in-depth firm-level case studies in an effort to find out how firms cope with rising labor costs and when and where firms relocate their manufacturing capacity. The report titled Adjusting to rising costs in Chinese light manufacturing: what opportunities for developing countries? is delivered with our findings to enhance the understanding of the academic, political and industrial fields on economic transformation in China and provide experience on firm-level survey.
