Institute of New Structural Economics at Peking University Ph.D. (Direct Entry) Program Overview (For Trial Implementation)

The direct-entry Ph.D. program in the Institute of New Structural Economics requires five years of study to complete. It includes

 

1. the foundation courses of economics and the comprehensive examination (namely Doctoral Qualifying Examination);

2. courses in the domain of new structural economics and examinations;

3. working on the research paper in the second school year;

4. forming of the advisor team;

5. working on the research paper in the third school year;

6. completion of at least 46 credits (excluding foreign language and politics courses);

7. attendance of the new structural economics workshop;

8. overseas exchanges (optional);

9. attendance of the new structural economics practices (select 2 practices out of three in curriculum setting);

10. visits and exchanges in higher education centers orinstitutes of new structural economics (optional);

11. doctoral dissertation and defense.
