Marianne Mannlein has been conducting desk research and economic policy analysis, carrying out field work and co-writing research and country consultancy reports. She is involved in the INSE's ambitious cross-country research project on the monitoring and evaluations of special economic zones. Ms. M?nnlein joined the Institute in July 2017 after studying Chinese for a year at Tsinghua University under a Chinese Government Scholarship. She holds a Master’s degree in Development Studies from the London School of Economics and previously graduated from the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich in Political Science and Economics. She specialized in the study of industrial policies, China’s development path and Chinese involvement in other countries’ strategies for economic transformation. She also gained working experience during her studies, notably at the Office for Academic Cooperation of the French Embassy in Berlin.
